How to Shoot a Facebook Live Video in 5 Simple Steps!
Live videos get SO much more engagement than any other type of post, because they’re authentic, unfiltered, and uncut.
Plus, Live videos are practically irresistible to your audience as they’re scrolling through their News Feed.
Thus, it can feel intimidating to push the “Go Live” button.
Believe me, I know!
When my mentors told me to start a Facebook Page and start teaching with Facebook Live, I had a LOT of nervous energy and hesitation.
But once I started, it quickly became a habit and no big deal.
So don’t be shy, get out there and teach what you’re learning, as you’re learning.
You don’t need to be an expert to get started!
Okay, let’s break it down.
Here’s a really simple five-step formula for shooting a Facebook Live videos…
As I mentioned, I initially had a ton of fear around doing Facebook Lives.
In fact, it paralyzed me to even think about it.
I’m a stay-at-home Mom and I was nervous my kids were going to run into the office, or that the dog was going to bark, or that I didn’t have makeup on, or that I couldn’t consistently go live at a set time.
“Excuse after excuse” is what I like to call that.
Here’s the thing…
People don’t care about the way you look or what’s happening around you.
All they really care about is the value of the content that you’re sharing with them.
So I had to get out of my own way and realize it wasn’t about me.
It’s about the people I am impacting.
You have a voice, and I’m sure you have something that you want to share with your audience.
At the end of the day, you must get out of your own way and JFDI—”Just F*ing Do It!”
This step is easy, yet really important…
Always be sure to say…
“Hey, where are you watching in from? Let me know. Drop a comment below.”
You want to engage with your audience and ask them if they have any questions throughout the segment.
You’ll be looking at their questions and addressing them later on.
Don’t neglect your viewers!
This step is whatever you intend to talk about!
My network marketing business, for example, is a health and wellness company.
So once, I broadcast a Facebook Live on my personal page titled…
“Five Ways to Kick Cellulite’s Ass!”
Keep in mind, you have to know your audience and you have to know your voice.
That was a very catchy title for my audience and so I had a lot of engagement.
For this video, I simply took an article I read and re-purposed the content.
It was originally seven tips, and I took bits and pieces of four of those tips and put them in my voice.
You NEVER want to plagiarize!
In the fifth tip, I vaguely mentioned that I was involved with something that could help (make this related to your company’s products or services, of course).
Don’t say specifically what it is, though, because you want to create curiosity.
“If you have a question wrapped around tip number five, drop me a comment or private message me.”
Afterward, I received a lot of messages, asking what that was I alluded to in tip #5, because it was all wrapped around how to kick cellulite’s butt and lose weight.
Women wanted to know what I was using!
This is just an example, but this is the “meat” of your training: the content delivery.
Now it’s time to engage again…
Ask your audience…
“What was your biggest takeaway?”
“Do you have any questions?”
“Who has fear around doing a Facebook Live?”
“Is there something you want to learn next time?”
Did you audience ask questions while you were delivering your content?
Then use their name and answer their question.
Always, always, always close with a call to action.
Your call to action can be as simple as…
“Hey, if you want to learn more about what I’m talking about here or in regards to the products that I use, just message me.”
Or, it can be more complex, such as…
